Calling All Young Filmmakers

Applications for Eastside’s 15th BFI Film Academy are now open!

What can you expect from the course?

Up to 21 students aged 16-19 will receive expert mentorship and hands-on experience in the filmmaking process, building confidence, nurturing creative expression and employability skills.

Students learn about story pitching, film producing, directing, camera operation, editing and much more, in a comprehensive course that delivers in depth technical training from filmmakers working in the film industry.

Where does the course happen?

The course will take place at Eastside Educational Trust, 37 Hackney Rd, E2 7NX with some sessions happening on location in Newham and Enfield.

How to apply?

Apply now for a chance to join Eastside’s 15th BFI Film Academy. The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on 28 September 2025.

EARLY BIRD OFFER –  Eastside will do a first review of all applicants on Monday 18 September so if you apply by then, your application will be reviewed earlier, which could increase your chances of being accepted onto the course.

We welcome applications from all over London, but if you’re from Barking and Dagenham, Brent, Croydon, Enfield, or Newham, we have reserved 50% of our spots just for you!
